Chili

Corn bread with honey butter is a great addition to this meal. A blob of sour dream on top is also good.




Ingredients:

• 3 tablespoons vegetable/olive oil
• 1 pound lean ground beef
• 2 chopped onions
• 1 chopped green pepper
• 1 chopped red pepper
• 3 celery stalks chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, chopped
• 3 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans (drained slightly)
• 1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
• 1 small can of reg Rotel tomatoes
• 1 can (14/15 oz) diced tomatoes (drained)
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 1 large can (14oz) of  mushroom pieces
• 1 tablespoons chili powder
• 1 tablespoon Paprika
• 1/4 teaspoon cumin
• 1 tablespoon white sugar
• ¼ teaspoon allspice
• 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions
Brown hamburger in vegetable oil. Add onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is soft. Pour off any excess fat.
Put in the crockpot, along with all other ingredients. Set on low for 8-10 hours, high for 4-6. Add additional salt, pepper, chili powder or hot sauce to taste.





I am Scandinavian-American and my hubby is German born. Hot and spicy until you are sweating and crying (going in and coming out) is just not our thing. I think this Chili is great but you may want to kick up the heat a bit.
